Dearest Friends,
I am very pleased to inform you of the fantastic acclaim one of our wines has recently garnered in the press. In the Sunday, August 30th edition of Corriere della Sera, writer Francesco Arrigoni reviewed our 2008 Solosole Vermentino, our big white wine produced by Poggio al Tesoro in Bolgheri, traditionally known as the land of big red wines. His article referenced another recent write-up, dated August 18th, on Vermentino in the prestigious New York Times, in which journalist Eric Asimov reviewed the top 10 Italian Vermentinos and Solosole ranked amongst the top three. Reading these extremely positive reviews in the articles of two esteemed journalists gives me great pleasure and satisfaction. Poggio al Tesoro is one of my more recent ventures founded along with my late brother Walter. Even in its relatively short lifespan, it has experienced great success by accumulating positive feedback from critics and the general public alike. I wanted to put to use that which I have learned over the years at Allegrini by embarking on a new project. It is Allegrini’s philosophy that everything from start to finish must be of superior caliber, from the cultivation and maintenance of pristine vineyards to the production of wines of the highest quality. Therefore, I invite you to take advantage of these remaining days of summer weather to establish your own opinions of Solosole by purchasing this fresh and elegant white wine to enjoy at your leisure. I’ll let you in on a little-known fact regarding this Vermentino as well. The way in which we work in both the vineyard and the cellar, allows our particular Vermentino the possibility to age well. After a year, the wine takes on notes reminiscent of a Riesling with complex aromas that render the wine even more interesting.
Best Regards,
Marilisa Allegrini
